Case Study [ project in development… ]

Modern Ceramics Company is a private Australian company incorporated in 1999 to undertake research into new ceramic materials and their applications particularly in relation to anti-ballistic armor.

Our primary job was to perform SEO because old site was ”Table Layout Designed“ without any semantic logic in markup and text formatting. Generally, problem to solve is “no returning results” in search engines for some basic terms such ”Silicone Carbide“ and other specific terms for this Company. As you probably know, term SEO is wrong but is frequently used on Internet today. If I can say, the only SEO I know and works, is Pure semantically Markup and good text formatting as W3C Recommendation.

Objectives:

Job Done…

Structural Markup
Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional non-table based,
pure layer styled, semantically ordered text presentation.

Presentation File
Valid CSS for “Good Looking Front View”.
At this point, only IE4 and NN4 is excluded,
and left in “Old Fashion View” but full useable.

Navigation and IA
User friendly navigation with some hover states, all in CSS, without JavaScript. As it was one of the problems in old site, we developed intuitive navigational system.

Better Typography
After goal is achieved, our second template was designed in manner of old page with colored Headings background.

Graphic Re-Design
Must say that this is a classic case of Re-Alligning, not Re-Designing, because client was specific that old design must stay.
Corporative colors and old good looking logotype aren't changed.
Our focus was Navigation & Typographic Enrichment and also basic graphics elements on page.
Typography Design
Because Typography is basic of any good presentation, our first goal was Typographic Enrichment For that reason we develop template with basic typographic elements on white page without any background colors for Headings.

SEO

Again?
Hmm… With page rank 3, lot of search terms well formed and structured in “<h1>, <h2>, <p>…” tags, and competition like this? I can't hardly wait to see the results, No.1 position, Be Sure!
